Dubai Municipality

Dubai Municipality provides municipal services to a diverse population in Dubai. Its work includes urban planning and supervision of construction, environmental protection and improvement, conservation of public parks, regulating and ensuring international quality standards in construction and building materials, food and consumable items, professional services in laboratory certification and accreditation.

Knowledge And Human Development Authority

The objective of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is to ensure the continuous development of the education sector and to improve the quality and outcomes of education on all fronts and at all stages.

Innovating creative solutions to disrupt current electricity & water utility business models by using 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Water Harvesting Solutions, UAV, energy storage, Blockchain, IoT and others
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) provides world-class services to over 880,000 customers in Dubai, in line with its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility. DEWA’s ccustomer happiness reached 96% in 2017, according to Smart Dubai Government’s Happiness Index.
DEWA develops major clean and renewable energy projects in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to make Dubai a global hub for clean energy and green economy, and provide 75% of Dubai's total power output from clean energy sources by 2050.

Challenge

1) Explore sustainable and integrated requirements (infrastructure) for autonomous and electrical transport testing and operating using emerging technologies such as wireless charging and Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) systems.
2) Implement breakthrough systems for cyclists and pedestrians, in addition to the new personal modes of transport..
3) Introduce futuristic construction methods and materials for transportation/roads infrastructure that will reduce time, cost and impact on traffic.
4) Utilize digital twin technology to increase fleet maintenance efficiency.
Roads and Transport Authority

With a vision of safe and smooth transport for all, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is responsible for planning and executing transport and traffic projects in Dubai, preparing legislation and strategic plans, developing other integrated solutions of road system and marine network that are safe and in line with the city's economic development plans and the highest international standards.

Challenge

1) Internal to Etisalat: Accelerate Etisalat’s transformation to a digital telco by increasing customer adoption of digital self-care channels thereby enhancing customer experience and reducing 50% calls to Etisalat customer care over the next one year using artifical intelligence, analytics/insights, machine learning etc.

2) External services: Transform the experience of visitors (students, residents, leisure and business tourists, etc) of city attractions (Expo2020, museums, libraries, landmarks etc) by leveraging extended reality (AR/VR) and artificial intelligence at every stage of the visitor journey (pre, during and post), aiming at 90% adoption by the targeted audience by 2021.
Etisalat Digital

'Etisalat Digital’ is a business unit of Etisalat driving digital transformation by enabling enterprises and governments become smarter through the use of latest technologies. The unit provides digital solutions including cloud, Digital security, digital marketing, digital payments, Internet of Things (IoT) and big data and analytics. It is best positioned to provide end-to-end digital vertical propositions to enable smarter education, healthcare, city and economy.

Challenge

Fully integrate artificial intelligence to enable a seamless journey for passengers by using the Smart Passage. Seeking solutions that focus on electronic auto approvals in the system in order to remove all human interaction with regards to passenger pre-clearance.

Based on other processes applied within GDRFA, such as pre-clearance, counters and/or smart gates, artificial intelligence is applied but only in a small section in the process and there is a lot of human interaction that occurs.
General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigner's Affairs Dubai (DNRD) is a department that effectively works on achieving its vision of "Have the United Arab Emirates as one of the most secure and safest countries in the world, through its commitment in implementing foreign entry and residency laws. GDRFA was one of the pioneers in using various Services aimed at speeding up and facilitating transactions so that customers' time and effort are saved, while reducing overcrowding at the DNRD counters. DNRD Services has achieved great progress during the last few years, with customers preferring to use such services, especially as several technical developments have also taken place.

Since its launch in 2007, du has many UAE firsts to its credit, including introduction of Pay by the Second® billing system, IPTV and self-service portal.

Challenge

Job Opportunities for Refugees:

  • Entity: Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Initiatives
  • Problem: The refugee crisis is a problem of poverty, not just migration.
  • 70% of refugees are living below the poverty line (less than USD1.90 per day) in their host countries, up from 50% in 2015.
  • 86% of refugees living outside of camps in Jordan are now living below the poverty line, while in Lebanon 70% of Syrian refugee households live far below the national poverty line.
  • UNHCR does not have 59% of the funds needed to reach refugees who require assistance. This translates to a funding shortfall of USD 795 million.
Required solutions: Utilizing technology to improve the livelihood of refugees.

Water Sanitation:
  • UAE Water Aid (Suqia) + Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)
  • Problem: 2 billion people globally are living in countries with no proper access to safe water and sanitation.
  • Required solutions: Finding solutions for solar powered water generation, filtration, purification or desalination units. Lack of clean water access is a global crisis affecting many parts of the world. While the specifics of the water challenge may differ slightly from area to area, most technologies and processes can be adapted for different water sources and community sizes by modifying certain components. For the Humanitarian Accelerators initiative, Suqia requires a cost effective, solar powered water production technology that can easily be adapted to serve a multitude of areas with different community sizes.
  • Requirements: solar powered, portable, modular/scalable, durable, easy to maintain, sustainable, affordable, compliant with WHO drinking guidelines, compliant with Health & Safety standards.
